The Bharat Sevashram Sangha is a spiritual brotherhood of monks and selfless workers devote to the service of humanity, with its goal of universal emancipation, has been tirelessly working for the uplift of the downtrodden and the neglected sections of the society, ever since its foundation in 1917 by the illustrious patriot Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandji Maharaj. it is purely a philanthropic and charitable organization with non-sectarian, non-communal non-political character and outlook. Its efforts in reaching out to the people in distress, particularly during natural calamities are most commendable.
South Bankura is known as a tribal area. There are several tribal villages in this area. Livelihood of tribals and people from the backward communities is based on hard manual labour. The ashrams initiatives focus on social and economic welfare and well-being of the people of this region.
